JAMB extends Direct Entry registration to April 25

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise for 2024 to April 25th. Initially set to end on March 28th, the registration commenced on February 28th. Following an earlier extension to April 11th, JAMB announced the recent extension in an X post on Tuesday. This decision was made to accommodate candidates facing difficulties registering due to various challenges. The board cited the need to implement measures to curb infractions in the DE admission process as another reason for the deadline extension. JAMB emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its systems and ensuring that candidates with genuine credentials have the opportunity to register. Candidates with questionable credentials were warned to abstain from the registration process, as measures have been put in place to identify and prosecute those with forged or fake certificates. Fabian Benjamin, the board's national spokesperson, acknowledged the challenges faced by candidates during the security screening process. He assured that JAMB would improve the registration process to be more user-friendly while ensuring that candidates with dubiously acquired certificates are not granted admission. Candidates from institutions that have not verified their certificates despite repeated requests will be allowed to register without verification.
